Italian Conversation Questions

This page is dedicated to ITALIAN CONVERSATION QUESTIONS!  One of the things I love doing with my students is having guided conversation time – as if they were out with Italian friends!

These posts contain questions that I use to direct the conversations and practice target vocabulary we have been learning.

All topics include a list of Italian conversation questions and a *FREE* PDF Download for you to use in your own classroom (or just to practice on your own)!

How do you use them?

That is up to you!

I do TWO main things with these questions:

1) SMALL GROUP CONVERSATIONS

In my classes, I hand out a full sheet to each student and give them a few minutes to read over the questions.

Next, I divide them into small groups (4-5 people) and I let the students take turns choosing questions to ask to the whole group.

I like to give them this freedom because it creates more authentic conversations that are relevant to the students. PLUS, it gives students who are less confident in their Italian a chance to ask / answer a question that they already have an answer to.

This decreases the amount of stress involved in speaking Italian and makes it so much more fun!

2) SHORT ANSWER WRITING ACTIVITY

For this, I get students to choose 3 questions for which they write short answers.

Again, this gives them the chance to answer questions that they find interesting AND something that is at their level.

Of course, you can use these any way you like — these are just my ideas.
